About This Pipe Tobacco

Cornell & Diehl hearkens back to those "golden days" with Golden Days of Yore — a festive mix of Red and Bright Virginias, Black Cavendish, Dark-Fired Kentucky, Katerini, and more. A unique Aromatic mixture, it's all married together with hints of ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and chocolate — topped with a dash of the best dark rum from Santa's secret stash.

The topping is well applied and is not the usual type of flavors found in an aromatic blend. I am not a person who normally enjoys aromatic blends but I do enjoy tasting good blends no matter what they are and this is a good blend.
I do find it best in a cob and sipped slowly to avoid some rough edges. I did jar for a while and I do let a bowl sit before lighting. It is not a daily blend but does satisfy when I do load a bowl with it. I would buy a tin or two when available.

Such a pleasant holiday mix (but also good year-round!)

A light aromatic that lets it's components shine. I grow tired of heavy flavors that I have to mix with an unflavored base to really enjoy, but this is just flavored enough to not be tiresome. Tin note is warm with ginger and spices, but the virginias come through as well. Upon lighting the same notes come through leaving you with a remarkable everyday smoke with a pleasant room note.

I think the bad reviews are either expecting a heavy aromatic or an aged virginia blend. Light and fun, this is one of my favorites....Read More

Fell for the season

With Christmas right around the corner I wanted to be ready for the season so I picked up a tin to see if it would fit the spirit of the season. I popped the tin looking forward to experiencing the joyful tin note as described and it fell flat on it's face... nothing even remotely close to what was advertised. Not wanting to give up on first impressions I went ahead and packed the pipe and once again it fell flat on it's face... nothing. I am not yet willing to write it off completely but I don't have high hopes on finding any redeeming qualities. I'll give it a month to breath and give it another shot but odds are I won't be picking up a second tin. Last thoughts: If it is advertised as a unique holiday blend then it should at the very least harken feelings of Christmas beyond the artwork on the label, but sadly the artwork is the best you are going to get. At first I was unimpressed. However, as I smoked it more and more, it actually became my favorite. Its got a nice nutty flavor to it. Its not heavy, and it burns really well. Though it is a ribbon cut. I ordered 10 cans about a month after I smoked the first tin, and I have to say I have smoked about 5 more tins throughout 2025. I plan on ordering another 10 tins come christmas. I really like this stuff....Read More
