Methodical Coffees

Methodical Coffee opened its first café in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, in 2015 and began roasting the following summer, founded on the conviction that a roast should express where the coffee came from rather than overwrite it: "the weather, the soil, and the place it grew," as they put it. Their coffees are relationally sourced through long-running partnerships with producers in Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, Perú, Brazil, and India, roasted in small batches at their Travelers Rest facility, and rated on a seven-point spectrum from Classic to Avant-garde rather than the usual light-medium-dark shorthand. The range runs from Blue Boy, the best-selling coreline blend, to single-origin lots traceable to a named station and elevation.
