Will Shurtz, Marco Suarez, and David Baker put their heads together to open Methodical Coffee's first cafe in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, in 2015, and have since expanded to open further locations around Greenville and in Columbia. Describing themselves as "coffee nerds, not coffee snobs," the three each play distinct roles — with Will personally overseeing production and roasting beans from Africa, Central America, and South America in small batches, Marco handling brand design, and David managing operations. Everything they do follows what they call their company's Methodista values: being mindful, personal, creative, tenacious, and grateful.

Methodical's Pink Lady is a fusion of two Ethiopian coffees for a blend that serves as a fruity counterpoint to the sweeter Blue Boy. In addition to citrus, notes of berries and dark chocolate can be detected. As the birthplace of Arabica coffee, Ethiopia is well-known for its beans that can range in taste from fruity to floral depending on processing, and Pink Lady is a tasty fusion of some of the best coffee East Africa has to offer.
