About This Pipe Tobacco

The strongest blend in the HH line, Bold Kentucky contains a high amount of the finest dark fired Kentucky from the USA and Africa, combined with bright Virginias to soften the taste just a bit. Still earthy and smoky, the dark fired takes center stage, with a slight nuance of sweetness. It's all married in a hot press for one unique taste. Like all the other HH blends made by Mac Baren, this blend has only an absolute minimal casing and no top flavor at all.

It was love at first puff with this blend. The flavor is deep, rich, meaty smoke. This blend is like stuffing your pipe with a smoked beef brisket. It does bring the vitamin N, so be careful if you're not into that, but I find as long as I eat a small meal before it isn't a problem at all. The flakes are very uniform and require a bit of effort to rub out. They also can be a little on the moist side so some dry time is beneficial before putting in the pipe. It was harsh to me at first, couldn't taste nothing. So I slept on it for 3 months, started smoking some stronger burleys. Then I came back and holy cow *chefs kiss*. Now the movie that plays in my head for this blend. `I knock on a persons door that I'm newly acquainted. His wife answers and says come on in, he's in the bathroom shaving his face. So I sit on the couch and conversate with the wife *first 1/3 bowl* (do I taste dark fruitiness? An unidentified sweetness?) The husband comes in and the wife's moves to the chair and I chalk it up with the husband *2/3 bowl (a bolder taste coming in with the fruitiness still lingering in the background). Last third of the bowl is me saying my goodbyes but still having that same friendly flavors until the door closed, I get in my car and drive away. I absolutely love this!!!!...Read More

Very good tobacco. I think i like this even more than ODF. Very smooth and yet strong. No bite. It's like ODF big brother. If you like burley, dfk, or VAburs try this. Wish they made it in bulk.

Tin note of barbeque, sour, and stewed fruit. Tobacco flakes are dark brown and black and easily rubs out. Tobacco is a little moist, but not wet enough to need drying. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is strong and nic is strong. (It required a beverage to continue to smoke). No flavoring detected. Taste is full and mostly consistent with notes of dry smoky, very spicy, herbal sour, very earthy, toasted bitter nuts, very woody, floral, leather, spices, mild barbecue, a mildly sweet lemon grass background note, and a very peppery retro. Nothing like a slow, cool burning smoke. I made sure I ate dinner first. Even when you open the small tin, you get treated to the gold two-fold presentation. Smells great, taste is superb. Broke out the group 3, Dunhill ~1969, root briar Prince on this one. I will be buying a pound or two, and jar some for aging. ODF ages well too....Read More
