Manufactured largely by hand in accordance with age-old traditions, Mac Baren's Vanilla Roll Cake features a wrapper of whole leaf Virginias, with additional Virginias and whole leaf Burleys serving as the foundation. Further enhancing the natural sweetness of the Virginias is a subtle casing of premium, Madagascar vanilla. This review is basically a copy and paste of my review of the Dark Twist Roll Cake. So... New to pipes and after spending several hundred dollars trying to find the right tobacco(s) I think this will be a "go to". I'm not going to wax poetically about the nuances of this tobacco because to be honest, my palate isn't up to it, but in a nutshell this is a satisfying, and pleasant smoke. To me it is full bodied and has a subdued vanilla sweetness that I enjoy, it burns well, smokes relatively cool (if you do your part), and is a very pleasant after dinner smoke. Between this and their Dark Twist Roll cake I've found a couple blends that i can say I truly enjoy....Read More

The tin aroma is very plummy, and that flavor lingers on after a smoke. Room note is strong in vanilla and Virginia brightness. The coins require very brief drying, if any, and smoke well broken apart or folded and stuffed into the pipe. A personal favorite.

So the room note is quite amazing but I'm not getting much vanilla as I smoke it. For the money the Mac Aren't Vanilla custard is a better value as it has more flavor.
