About This Pipe
The "22" design from Rattray's is a squat Tomato that fills the palm and tapers upward to a crisply chamfered rim. With stocky relative proportions, it's a muscular rendition marked by stout insulating walls. Its stem and shank differ slightly, though, depending on the series it's found in: In the 2,000 Year Bog Oak line, it features an ever-tapering shank-and-stem combination, contrasting sleekness against the bowl's more robust profile; whereas, this Butcher's Boy example displays a straight, abbreviated shank fitted to more slender stems of Nosewarmer and demi-Churchwarden lengths.
Rattray's Butcher's Boy series is one of the Scottish marque's most versatile lines, offering pieces that come complete with two mouthpieces — one of standard size and the other of Churchwarden length. Such a design ensures that no matter your mood or circumstance, you can fit the stummel with the mouthpiece best suited for your needs. The elongated Churchwarden stem promotes a comfortable smoking posture for peaceful, relaxing smoking sessions while the standard length mouthpiece is ideal for daily use when on-the-go. This particular "G" example is fashioned from ash wood and features a graphite chamber insert that is tasteless, odorless, and easy to clean.
