About This Pipe
Like their "347" shape, Ropp's "428B" is a sleek Belge interpretation. This particular rendition features a more bulbous, Apple-like bowl oriented in the design's characteristic forward cant. It's a take on the clay tavern pipes of old but is here fashioned from briar, the streamlined taper through the shank and stem lending the bowl a perched posture and contributing to the shape's overall svelte elegance.
Sourced from old stummels found at the Chapuis-Comoy factory, Ropp's Vintage line presents old-school, classic designs that were turned decades ago but never finished. This piece is dressed in a dark-stained sandblast and fitted with a stem of genuine horn, hearkening back to the style of mouthpieces from the early 1900s. It accentuates the vintage motif, making for a thoroughly retro aesthetic.
