About This Pipe
Italian pipe making design is often marked by disparate proportions between the bowl and shank, with the former usually dominating a piece's visual weight. Such an aesthetic is championed throughout Savinelli's portfolio; however, the Italian marque's "642" bent Apple forgoes this shaping style. Instead, this piece features a robust shank that rivals the bowl's plump muscularity. The proportions are hearty and appeal, especially to those who enjoy the signature look of Peterson, particularly their "XL02" bent Apple.
Translating to "moonstone" in Italian, Savinelli's Lunaria series is offered in two rich, Bordeaux-hued finishes — smooth and rusticated — each imparting a distinct visual character while preserving the collection's refined Italian sensibility. Accentuating the deep red stain, every pipe is fitted with a swirled gray methacrylate stem, its marbled pattern providing a modern counterpoint to the classic briar. An aluminum band at the shank junction adds a subtle metallic flourish, visually unifying the composition.
