Peter Stokkebye - PS52 Proper English
Good All Day English
First review, so bear with me. Proper English is the 4th or 5th English blend I have tried. It is, to me, a medium strength blend that can be smoked about any time of day. The tin note is predominantly latakia with some very faint grassy/sour notes in the background. I do not notice much if any of the floral notes from the orientals. Moisture content was good to go out of the bag and was smoked both immediately, after jarring for a week, and after letting it sit and dry for 5-10 minutes just to test various moisture contents. This carries over into the smoking experience for me as well. Latakia definitely drives the bus, with the Virginias providing a solid backup. The flavor stays predominantly smoky with the Virginia sweetness showing up about mid bowl. The nicotine level is mild to medium. Being mild for the first 2/3 of the bowl and then ramping up to a medium level as it finishes out. That said, I have no problem smoking this first thing in the morning with a cup of black coffee and no food on my stomach. Requires few to no re-lights depending on how slow I let my cadence drop. Burns down to a fine gray ash with little dottle. The room and beard note is tolerable. Maintaining that light smoky/campfire smell. It fades away relatively quickly compared to others like Red Odessa or Mystic Moor. Over all very pleased with Proper English and may order again in larger quantities if I do not find another mild to medium bulk English Blend that I like.
