Mac Baren - Navy Flake 3.5oz
A Flawed Favorite
With a bit of age the tin note smells to me exactly like Martinelli's sparkling cider. The balance of richness and sweetness in the Burleys and Virginia kept me coming back for more and were perfectly complimented by a honey like sweetness and some complexity from the rum. Its a few steps heavier than some Navy Flakes and at its best tastes like honey on toast. It was fairly temperamental, however, and sharp edges came out relatively easily. For a sipping tobacco, I was in love, but am heartbroken by the price.
Low Country - Natural Virginia
Decent Flavor, Great Value
A haylike/bready Virginia with enough Red Virginia to add some interest. There is more complexity (and strength) than I expected. The sweetness comes and goes with method, aftertaste is pleasant and leaves a noticeably comfortable mouth feel. Great choice for a bulk Virginia, with enough depth to be versatile. Incredible for the price.
