Mac Baren - Virginia Flake 1.75oz
A nice alternative or addition to Capstan Blue.
I enjoy Capstan, but at $24 a tin, it gets expensive, so I decided to try Mac Beran Virginia Flake. I was not disappointed, as the tobacco is quite excellent. The small tin and foil wrapping give a similar experience to Capstan, with a gold rather than blue presentation. The tin note offers a sweet citrus aroma that is very pleasing, and the moist, easy-to-rub flakes prepared the tobacco well for my pipe. The smoke can be hot, so a slow draw is recommended. It smokes steadily from start to finish, and I can easily draw out the citrus flavors. I have already bought two more tins and a six-year-aged tin to try. This will definitely become part of my weekly rotation, along with my Capstan Blue.
