Cornell & Diehl - Manhattan Afternoon 2oz
Manhattan Afternoon
Lacks any bright VA flavor you expect in a blend, Acidic, lacks sweetness or any flavor, very bland and you will start puffing harder searching for something in this blend and get,,,, bite! Honey? didn't find it. grass, citrus, hay, not there. Whispy in depth and flavor, a very light blend. I would suggest to C&D to source better bright VA as I find this Canadian VA harsh and bitey lacking the flavors you would expect. I bought 3 tins, and I regret it, but I expected so much more. What could go wrong with bright VA and honey topping? Manhattan Afternoon that's what.

I opened the tin immediatly upon receipt of delivery. Greated by a tin note of red wine, bread and tangy VA's. Moisture level was perfect but I let it breath for 15-20 minutes before filling my bowl. The smoke was smooth, cool and flavorful. Burned to a fine ash and left no moisture in my bowl. Not a lot of change throughout the smoking of the bowl but a smooth, satisfying VA flavor that slightly deepens. I ordered 3 tin's on it's initial release and I've since ordered two more. The aging potential will only benefit this tobacco but was very happy with the tobacco fresh and have been enjoying it several times a week. Masterfully blended with choice tobacco with a mild topping, not aromatic. Very satisfying smoke with a pleasant aftertaste. Highly recommend to Red Va lovers, and very pleased this blend is not a small batch though it certainly challenges C&D's small batch VA's. This is a blend I will cellar deep. Age when smoked: fresh Pipe: Stanwell, Hans Christian Anderson Church Warden
