About This Pipe
This stunning volcano from Danish master Tom Eltang is like nothing that I have personally encountered from his work bench. For that matter, unlike any interpretation of the volcano that I have seen from anyone. The view from dead on bottom shows a heel that forms a perfect circle. It is only on turning to the side view that one sees the pronounced upward bias of the heel, and its subtle interplay with the concavity of the rim. The tapering oval shank provides a superb compositional anchor without unduly pulling the eye from the stunning bowl.
