About This Pipe

What Tom Eltang can do with a block of briar and some vulcanite is simply marvelous. And this is a marvelous pipe indeed. The perfectly seated bowl strikes out at nearly a 45 degree angle, its reach complemented by a symphony of brush stroked straight grain. The shank flows seamlessly out from the bowl and thins easily upward before meeting the stem. The stem in its own right is an incredible adornment to the composition, maintaining a clean, fluid line, while tapering into a delicate, crisply executed bit.

The cherrywood shape isn't one that really grabs my attention as a matter of course. But this piece by Tom Eltang has singularly captured my imagination. I hope it will do the same for you.
