About This Pipe
While at first blush this rich red Rubino may seem a fairly conventional neoclassical composition, a closer inspection reveals a few interesting details. The most obvious might be the forward shift lent to the bowl by the angle of its rear face and the position of the transition. This itself is echoed (or perhaps serves to accent) the stem's own differentiated upper and lower lines, where the lower surface forms a slightly different angle and curvature than the upper one. The changes may be subtle, but once you imagine how the briar's profile would look without them, quite significant.
