About

(13" X 19" Print)

Andy Warhol, an artist whose work was once dismissed as a "flavor of the month" by the more staid of the art critic community, and simply drew blank stares from a good deal of middle America, ultimately had the proverbial last laugh. Today some of his limited lithos are selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars (and don't even ask what original oil-on-canvas works are being gaveled down at).

Much in the manner of the Warhol aesthetic of the mid-sixties, graphic artist Bill Doherty makes arresting use of color saturation bleed, dials up hidden primaries, and finishes a silk screen pass. The results pleased Marylin Monroe, and it certainly please this pipe enthusiast.
