Baccarat cigars are currently manufactured by Davidoff; however, that does not mean the brand is devoid of its own unique and somewhat complicated history. Originally called Carl Upmann, Baccarat Cigars was created when Upmann merged with Fumas Tobacco in 1989 after Julio Eiroa (the father of famed Christian Eiroa) took the reins, later renaming the whole operation Caribe Imports. At the time, Baccarat cigars were sold by the late Sal Fontana of Camacho Cigars, an iconic figure in the industry and top executive of Camacho, and were the company's top seller. Still rolled at the Comacho factory in Ranchos Jamastra, Honduras, Baccarat cigars boast high quality, Havana-seed Honduran long-fillers, Mexican binder, and both Connecticut Shade and Maduro wrapper varieties, making these cigars delightfully smooth and creamy, with notes of cedar and coffee — a perfect combination for cigar veterans and novices alike.
