About This Cigar

While most "Year of..." cigar lines are centered around the Chinese zodiac calendar, Dunbarton Tobacco Trust instead draws inspiration for the "Year of..." line from people who are near and dear to the company. The second addition to this annual tradition, the Year of the Pausers is dedicated to a cigar-smoking couple from Alaska, Tom and Michelle Pauser. The couple is "very active online, in particular the SI Social Group, and [they] travel to Lower 48 to attend multiple cigar events each year." They're not just supportive of DTT, but many other brands as well, so it's only fitting that a set of cigars be named after two people with such a strong passion for the hobby.

Because the Year of the Pausers honors not one, but two cigar-smoking individuals, it's only fair that both Tom and Michelle get their own unique blend. An expansion on the pair's respective favorite existing cigars, Tom's blend draws inspiration from the Mi Querida line, and features an innovative Nicaraguan "Capa Camaleón" wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés negro binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, while Michelle's blend features Mexican San Andrés negro "cultivo tonto" wrapper over an Ecuadorian habano rosado binder and fillers from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania — a modified version of the Sin Compromiso Paladin de Saka. Taking the already deep personalization of this release a step further, Tom's cigar is produced at Nicaragua American Cigars S.A., the same factory that makes Mi Querida cigars, while Michelle's cigar is made at Joya de Nicaragua, which produces Sin Compromiso. Both Tom and Michelle's cigars share the same 6" x 48 vitola and pigtail cap, and they're available here in limited-production boxes of 14, with seven of each kind.
