About This Cigar
Arturo Fuente Cigars was founded in 1912 by Arturo Fuente, a Cuban immigrant to Florida, and is one of the most storied cigar manufacturers active today. The brand has grown from a small family operation to one of the largest premium cigar manufacturers in the world, being passed down through the generations of Fuentes for over a hundred years. Their cigars are widely regarded as some of the best on the market, with a strict standard of quality control and aging that ensures every blend is consistent.
The Yagua cigar from Arturo Fuente Cigars was created by Lazaro Lopez, who manages the J.C. Newman PENSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Lopez says the Yagua is inspired by the way his grandfather used to roll and wrap his cigars in a royal palm leaf. These modern Yagua cigars feature a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. According to J.C. Newman, the company underferments the wrapper to help give the cigar some edge. Once the individual cigars are wrapped, instead of being placed in traditional wooden molds to help ensure they keep a round shape, 20 Yagua cigars are banded together and tightly wrapped in a royal palm leaf, giving a unique shape to each cigar. The Yagua cigar is presented in a 6 x 54 toro with a profile of earthiness, leather, oak, bread and other roasted flavors.
