+About Montecristo
In the early 1900s, it was common practice in cigar factories to have books read aloud to the torcedores — those who rolled cigars. As a result, the Alexander Dumas novel "The Count of Monte Cristo" became a favorite among the workers. It's in honor of this tradition that Alonso Menendez and his partner, José "Pepe" Garcia, decided to name their cigar brand "Montecristo." Established in 1935, Montecristo cigars originated in Cuba before relocating to La Romana, Dominican Republic in 1971 where their cigars have been handcrafted ever since at the Tabacalera de Garcia factory. Montecristo offers some of the finest cigars in the world, made from Dominican grown, Cuban-seed long-fillers and Connecticut shade wrappers. The result is a refined blend that offers unmitigated quality paired with a depth and complexity of the classic cigar flavor.
