Founded in 2017 by Mo Maali, Patina cigars utilize leaf grown in Ecuador and Pennsylvania. Maali drew inspiration for his brand's name by observing metal statues and buildings developing a patina — a result of oxidation that adds external character to the material. He relates this concept, then, to the human experience: "Just as those buildings underneath the patina retain their original character, we too as human beings will always be ourselves at our core. No matter what happens in life, always be true to yourself."

In the same way, Patina cigars feature the same core blend of Nicaraguan and Pennsylvanian tobaccos, enveloped in either a medium-bodied Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper or one of Ecuadorian Habano leaf for a more full-bodied profile.
