Founded in 2015 by brothers Mike and Greg Szczepankiewicz, Powstanie produces premium cigars crafted at the Nica Sueño factory in Estelí, Nicaragua — the same facility behind RoMa Craft's celebrated blends. The name "Powstanie," meaning "Uprising" in Polish, reflects both the brothers' heritage and the brand's bold, innovative spirit.

Playing into the brand's themes of Polish heritage, Powstanie's Wojtek line is named after a bear purchased as a cub by Polish soldiers in World War II. The legendary bear, Wojtek, contributed greatly to the soldiers' work, making such a deep impact on them that he ended his service at the rank of corporal. These war-bear-inspired cigars are handmade in Nicaragua, featuring Ecuadorian Habano and San Andres leaves in the wrapper, an Indonesian binder, and filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua — presented here in the Corona Gorda vitola.
