Though coffee is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world, it has become fairly commonplace to take the people who produce it for granted, not to mention those who first discovered the beloved bean in Africa long ago. The minds behind Portrait Coffee strive to pour a new narrative around this coveted source of caffeine and comfort, bridging the gap between past and present by honoring their ancestors as well as the farmers, roasters, and community members they work with today, so nobody's story goes untold. Since launching in 2019, Atlanta-based Portrait Coffee has been featured on Good Morning America and won several awards, including the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund and Sprudge's Most Notable Roaster in 2020.

Portrait Coffee describes their Toni blend — named after American novelist Toni Morrison — as "unapologetically chocolate with a body you can feel." Consisting of Parainema and Lempira varietals, the beans for this medium-dark roast were sourced from Honduras and wet-processed, resulting in a full-bodied flavor with notes of chocolate, hazelnut, and plum. The roasters at Portrait Coffee recommend this blend for drip, pour-over, French press, or espresso brewing.
