About This Pipe Tobacco

Named after one of Seattle Pipe Club blender Joe Lankford's favorite places to retreat-and-reflect, Deception Pass is described as a North-West style Va/Per, combining a main body of Virginias with condiment doses of Orientals, Perique, and Black Cavendish.

Tin note of pungent, sweet fruit, and spices. Tobacco is a mix of black, dark brown tan and yellow ribbon cut. Moisture content is good, no drying/prep needed. Burns moderate with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is mild to medium and mostly consistent, with notes of sweet, vinegary, tangy citrus, wood, bread, spicy, floral, leather, spice Rasin, earth, dry hay, herbal, acidic, mild peaty vegetation a stewed sour fermented fruit background note, and a peppery retro. My favorite Va/Per blend

This is a very easy smoking blend. Nothing harsh, easy on the tongue, and very convenient to pack. The cut is perfect ribbon cut with ready to smoke moisture. This is one of my daily rotation right now.

This most excellent Va/Per blend is highly underrated and often overlooked. Complex virginias provide a base for intriguing and zesty perique-driven wonderment to captivate the smoker all the way through the experience. I never tire of this blend and am always hunting for those elusive and delicious secondary and tertiary notes brought on by the interplay of exotic orientals. Heard such great things about this blend so thought I would give it a shot. I went into this wanting to like it but couldn't even finish the first smoke. This stuff tastes nasty to me. It was like I threw a handful of raisins in my mouth followed by a few dozen black peppercorns and started chewing it all together. The tin note was raisins and vinegar. Like smoking a cigar, but good.

This blend immediately reminded me of what smoking a cigar should taste like. If cigars could ever taste as good as this, I would smoke them more often. It also has the same plum pudding tart from the aged Virginia, I'm guessing. Superb.
