Sillem's: Red 100g Pipe Tobacco

Product Number: 003-397-0001

This is a masterful composition for the sophisticated gourmet. A high proportion of spicy and sweet Virginia flake characterizes this mellow, fruity mixture which has been deliciously refined with double toasted black Cavendish and combined with delicate fruity essences of ripe apples, cherries, and Mirabelle. Coarse and fine Golden Virginia give an exquisite bouquet to this tobacco with subtle, smooth, and sweet hints of lemon.

Okay Cherry
April 05, 2025
Product: Sillem's Red 100g
Comes in a cool tin. The tobacco inside the tin comes packaged in cheap plastic bag. I recommend putting it in a mason jar immediately. Mild flavor compared to other "cough syrup" cherry tobaccos. I recommend it if you like a drier, less flavorful tobacco. If you get nervous on the highway and are a dressing on-the-side kind of guy, then this tobacco is for you!...Read More
Cherry? Yes please!

This is a superb cherry blend, with hints of apple. You really get a taste the tobacco, and it's good, and you get just enough of the cherry and the apple fruit to really have something special. I would much rather have this over any other cherry blend I've tried so far.
I Do Not Like Cherry...or do I?

...if this is what Cherry flavored tobaccos are. Today was my "hey, let's try all of my Cherry Blends day." I recently started piping in mid January 2024. I've collected near 100 total blends since then. Of those, in the Cherry realm, I have: Cobblestone Indulge: Cherry Delight _ Paladin: Wild Cherry _ Missouri Meerschaum (by Sutliff): Taste of Temptation _ Missouri Meerschaum: Great Dane _ Sillem's: Red _ Peter Stokkebye: PS3 Cherry. And I am awaiting a delivery of Cult: Blood Red Moon. Today I managed to try them all except for Great Dane, and, of course, Blood Red Moon for not receiving it yet. The only one of these I can tolerate is PS3 Cherry. Mostly because the flavoring is subtle...I suppose. This one, Sillem's: Red, I nearly threw out both tins of it. I did throw out both tins of Cobblestone: Cherry Delight. This, and the others, I will give another try on some other day. It was a brutal day...the worst one of my short piping "era." You guys and your 4.79 Star average, I just reduced to 4.38, got me to try this. And after my taste buds recover from today's onslaught of brutality, I'll try this one and the others again. While trying to properly smoke these cherry aromatic blends correctly. And then edit my review accordingly, if deserved. *Update* it's the following morning. I had my morning 'T' blend with some coffee and a dash of Moonshine in it. I packed the bowl lightly, tamped lightly throughout the burn, and slowed my pace in order to try or appear to be enjoying Sillem's: Red. And....I did slightly enjoy it. Still not sure I would keep some on hand yet. So I did upgrade my Star rating from 1.5 to 3.5. And, so you l know, my Star ratings are: 1=nope, never again _ 2=tolerable, but not likely to order again _ 3=was OK, but I'm on the fence still; the fence being to keep some on hand (4 Star) or not (2 Star) _ 4=good enough to have or want some around for smoking time to time _ 5=gotta have it...daily. So today's 3.5 Star update is for being between "on the fence" and deciding to keep some on hand....Read More

Looking for a cherry aromatic that doesn't taste like cough syrup or artificial? Sillem's Red hits the mark. I've tried a lot of cherry aromatics, only to be disappointed from their medicinal or artificial taste. This has an intoxicating scent right out of the tin or in this case, the plastic bag in the tin it comes in. It brings me back to my childhood when I wouldm visit my Uncle's house and smell his pipe tobacco as soon as I walked in the door. :) Smokes great too. Not an overwhelming aromatic, you get plenty of Virginia coming through which I really like. This is a top tier tobacco that I will keep on hand year-round....Read More

Product: Sillem's Red 100g
This is a very refined aromatic. A lot of floral notes from the topping but the sweetness of the virginias comes through clear as day. Also a bit of spice especially on the retrohale. I would have thought there is a pinch of perique in here but it all must be from the Vas. Smokes cool and flavor doesnt burn out even with some heavy puffing. Unique and excellent smoke....Read More
Very, Very Good

Product: Sillem's Red 100g
This is a very, very good aromatic. Don’t let the tin note put you off. It is very typically “American”. It does ghost your pipe, however, so be aware. Don’t use it in a pipe you want to use later for more subtle and complex blends. Use your dedicated aro-pipe for this one.
Great aroma and flavor
