Match 20 is a wonderful blend and very well done, it is close to 965 but really needs no help standing on it's very own, I would actually compare this more to PS Proper English than 965, the quality of the tobaccos is very good and Sutliff does not skimp out on that, the balance of the latakia is not over done but like garlic you just can't have to much and the cavendish rounds this blend to a subtle sweet taste with no harsh tones or rough edge's, this fine blend ages beautifully, I truly enjoy match 20 more than (Dunhill)Petersons 965, not that 965 is a bad blend because it is not but Match 20 just did a epic job at rounding it out and bringing it in with that hint of sweetness, I would encourage anyone that is curious about sampling a smokey, smooth and sweet tasting tobacco with a texture that does not bite. Mind you I am a young pipe smoker 47 years old but been enjoying the pipe for over 28 years and have smoked some of the finest tobacco's from around the world and Match 20 is right there, Pesse Canoe Latakia Flake 20, Robert Lewis 123 Mixture, PS306, Samuel Gawith Skiff Mixture I can go on but this give's you a idea of what I enjoy and Match 20 is right there. this is as close to 965 as a donkey is to a horse however all is not lost throw it in the cellar for 2 years what a difference i use it to experiment with blending i'll add more latakia ,dark fired, perique or whatever the mood strikes and have come up with some outstanding recipes it's quite rewarding to blend something You really like...Read More

I am a beginner pipe smoker, so take this review as it is. That being said, I really enjoy Sutliff Match 20. I was at a local place looking at their tobacco’s and told them I really like this blend and they suggested I try C&D Maltese Falcon, so I did. The two are not on the same level, in my opinion. I like the MF but Matcha 20 is so much better with more going on. It also does not give me as much bite. I really recommend this to anyone...Read More

While My Mix 965 is a quite a bit more subtle and nuanced, this blend is damn near perfect for someone looking for a blend thats smoky with a touch of mellow caramel sweetness. I keep coming back to this blend again and again and am always happy I do. It has been a number of years since I smoked the original 965, so I don’t know how much I can trust my memory. Nevertheless, however much it is or is not similar to 965, I can say this with confidence: The Sutliff version is darn good.
