Great English with less Oriental presence than the BS Original Smoking Mixture Match. Has some nice body from the dark fired and Burley, with rich Latakia smokiness.

s a little bit moist in the bag and does not seem to produce a rich dense smoke, but I am loving the dry fruit undertones and the slow burning capabilities. In my personal opinion this is going to age beautifully and this price range it really is a steal. Read Less

mplex and they continue to develop and unfurl throughout the bowl, it’s just wonderful. Very different from many of the other English/Balkan blends I’ve been smoking. Perhaps a bit more balkan than English? These orientals start out with a great sour note on the first light, then they provide exotic spice in the middle of the bowl, and then something magical happens in the last third of the bowl. They soften out and become more round and mellow. So curious, so relaxing. Very tasty. Incredibly pleasing. I have not had the opportunity to try the original that this blend was created to match, but what an excellent smoke, regardless of whether or not it successfully recreates its namesake. 不同于昨天用大斗抽吸的感觉，今天这斗抽的很上头。开始阶段，主体L味道，偶尔感受V，没抽到昨天的花香，算是缓慢平稳起步。中端L V交替出现，奶味，甜味加重，渐入佳境。后端主要是V的甜，L的味道越来越淡，本人已经上头非常舒服。临近结束，突然出现很明显的酸李子味，不知何故，好像怕你腻了，来点解腻小菜，特别神奇。

抽了一斗，第一口L草味道明显，后面陆续出现 V的甜，酸李子味和很少的花香，缺少让人印象深刻的味道，适合偶尔来一斗。

The proportions simply aren't good enough to balance. Add the burley and you now have a tannic mixture that pulls out any sweetness whatsoever and adds further earthiness which combined with the Orientals, yields DRY MOUTH. This isn't a contemplative mixture. In my opinion, it's a mixture concocted to be something different. If you like chewing walnuts, sesame seeds and following up with unsweetened oolong tea... I think you'll like this. I also think there’s a little perique in this. It’s not a quality perique as the toe jam, black pepper nuance is there without any of the plummy tartness. te smokiness of the latakia you find in Pirate Kake for example. Burley imposes some cool burning order while Virginia sweetens the pot and adds those archetypal grassy-hay-bready-citrus notes. I could smoke this one all day, and I do. The flavors are so nuanced and interesting, and they develop and evolve without transgressing the major chord. Earthy and floral, buttery smooth, creamy, nutty, spicy, sour, and smoky. It's so satisfying. Doesn't pack a wallop, so if you want something stronger go for Casbah or Ten Russians or Blockade Runner. But if you want a perfect all day Balkan english blend, this one's the winner. Read Less

sistent, with notes of nuts, toasted bread, wood, spices, herbal floral, earth, smoky, leather, mild cocoa, peppery, musty fermented vegetation, dry green grass, buttery, savory, a zesty sour, tangy citrus background note, and a mildly peppery, almost smooth retro. Oriental/Turkish is leading with Kentucky supporting. Latakia and Virginia are cheering them on. Room note is tolerable, and aftertaste is great. Read Less

While not way up on my list this is a good blend a little change of pace the the dark fired makes for a tasty smoke. That said the price is right put a pound in the cellar you wont regret it.

I have never had the original because I could never buy it anywhere. This tobacco is suprisingly mild. It has a good taste and the Latakia is light.

This tastes very much like nightcap to me leaving the subtleties when you have it right in that sweet spot nothing to complain about just an excellent English blend can really taste the Oriental

Familiar but not the same, and I'm not referring to the original BS either, it's closer to White Knight than BS, tin note seems a bit different though.

e hunt for a good bulk alternative. And this very well may be it. I'm less than certain only because I've had only one bowl of this stuff so far, but it was fantastic! To my palate, it has everything (taste wise) I love in Margate, just as satisfying! It does not have the aged quality of Margate, which I knew not to expect. But the balance is just about the same. Component wise, this one has some Burley (reportedly) where Margate does not. But it's way in the background. If the next bowl satisfies the same, I'll definitely be buying more! Read Less
