About This Pipe Tobacco

This is a combination of dark-fired whole leaf Virginias and mid-rib fine cut Kentucky leaf rolled and sliced to make 'bird's eyes'. This fine shag cut was preferred by fisherman and sailors because it was very easy to pack and light.

I enjoy this tobacco on a level that I can't put into words. I have a top five, and this one has found itself at number two on my list. I love everything about it, from the shag cut to the sweet, smoky flavoring of the tobacco. It is satisfying and tangy throughout. Dark Bird's Eye is divine, perfect, archetypal. All tobacco is technically American but those Brits sure do it well. They do it better than we do over here across the pond in the shallow end. Seriously strong. Decent flavor but nothing to write home about. Due to its strength I'll probably use it as a blending tobacco to add body and nicotine to some of my favorite OTC.

I find this blend to be very rich and smooth with great darker flavor and a slight lingering semi sweet taste. Lights well, the thin cut can burn a bit hot if packed too tight. no bite but plenty of nice pepper on the nose toward the end of a bowl. Strong in flavor with a power level near medium.
