About This Pipe Tobacco

This blend is at the mellow end of the taste spectrum in the Mac Baren Mixture line. Danish Mixture Modern is a true aromatic blend mixing tangy Virginias with ready-rubbed Burleys and Mac Baren's modern Cavendish. A hint of vanilla and fruit make for a sweet flavor and splendid room note.

My personal view of this tobacco is that it's a little lacking in aromatic taste and roomnote, however it is completely bite free, smooth smoke with flavor building up as you puff. I found that it makes an outstanding blending tobacco to smooth out or tone done sharp, bitey, and over flavored tobacco's. Has a fine old-timey taste and roomnote....Read More

For me this is the ideal aromatic. It’s tobacco forward and the aromatic additions are not at all overpowering. The fruit and vanilla are not so strong that you can’t get tobacco in every puff but they are just delightfully added and the room note is fantastic. The good news is not strong aromatization

I have not returned to this tobacco mixture in more than 15 years. And why, when there is a huge amount of better quality tobacco blends for pipes. But after indulging in the sale of Mac Baren tobaccos, I bought several cans from the era when I was just starting to smoke a pipe and explore this world. The composition of the tobacco blend is: Black Cavendish, Burley, Virginia. Although I already know that Burleigh I don't really like in the mix. The smell from the can is pleasant and immediately reminded me of those times when I started to get acquainted with tobacco and pipes. In smoking, it seems to me not bright and of course rather weak for me (2 out of 5). My preferences for the last ten years are Perique and Dark Fired Kentucky, Virginia and the strength is not less than 3 out of 5. ...for a light contemporary mixture- I found this to be quite appealing, actually intriguing. It imparts a solid tobacco flavor to the palate, reminiscent of the older Flying Dutchman or Scandinavian blends of yesteryear, along with some campfire notes. Unique amongst the Mac Baren line, more attune to the HH CUBE (Silver or Bronze) tobaccos minus the bite, with a solid nic hit. A pleasant burn for out of doors. This is an authentic Danish smoke, sweet, yet not cloying or confectionary-like, less aromatic than the 7 Seas line with steady tobacco flavor upfront and a peppery nose with a slight dryness. It has a sense of sophistication and works well as a crossover to fuller mixtures such as Scottish Mixture or Solent....Read More

As noted, Danish Mixture is lighter, brighter, and a bit sweeter than Scottish Blend. Danish features notably less of the burley body, which shifts the blend to the Virginia end of the spectrum. There is a hint of spice in the retrohale. By comparison, Newminster No. 48 Danish Gold is at least as flavorful, doesn't run quite as hot, and is available with bulk pricing.
