I have a giant bag of it, so I really wanted to like it, but I just can't. Nothing here works for me. It's too light. None of the flavors are pronounced enough. Cavendish doesn't taste like anything unless it's flavored; it's there just to add body. But this cavendish is so light that it doesn't add any body. The perique is so faint that it barely exists. The Virginias are indeed "dark" and "fragrant", but not much else. There's no flavor. This blend is like trying to hear a song that sounds like it could be fantastic but you can't hear it very well and there's no volume knob to turn up. You chase it but you just can't catch it, so you lose interest.

I still have almost 500g of this stuff and it is hitting the five-year mark soon, so I cannot bring myself to discard it. Let's see what it does as a blending base. I'm going to add some stronger Virginias and perique, perhaps a pinch of latakia. Who knows, it could be a sleeper....Read More

An excellent tobacco that is smooth, subtly sweet, and fragrant. The flavor profile changes slightly depending on which pipe I use, with some pipes highlighting the toasted sweetness, and others bringing out more of the perique and a bit of tanginess from the Virginias. It comes quite moist, so let it dry a bit.

Note: The blend components listed are a bit misleading. It doesn't contain Virginia and Cavendish as separate components. It is an English Cavendish, which is bright Virginia stoved and/or steamed and pressed until black, blended with Perique....Read More

Tin note of sugared Rasins and spiced bread. Tobacco is black and dark brown ribbon and course cut. Moisture content is good, tough some may need to dry it. Burns slow with few relights. The strength is mild to medium and nic is mild. No flavoring detected. Taste is mild to medium and mostly consistent, with complex notes of floral, toast, bread, spices, rich savory, sweet, wood, orange peel/zest, ripe dark plum, dry hay, acidic, mildly spicy, citrus, sugar covered Rasin, a tangy stewed fruit background note, and a peppery retro. When you read cavendish on this one, don’t confuse it with an American aromatic. It is a stoved Virginia with a little perique. In the tin and in the bowl, think dried cherries, figs, raisins, etc. but without added sweetness. It’s one dimensional in a good way. I actually don’t smoke this often however sometimes it’s exactly what I’m in the mood for, usually late morning or mid day. It is soft and satisfying but barely approaches a medium flavor. Apparently the mixtures with Cavendish are not my mixture. It seemed to me not a bright, overly smoothed mixture, although notes of perique are palpable, which made this mixture smoking for me, but I do not think that I will return to this tobacco.
