About This Pipe
The "Jewel of Denmark" designation is reserved for Kai Nielsen's best work, and it's accompanied by a letter grade ranging from D to A. This particular B-grade bent Dublin is an excellent example of the artisan's unique take on the classic Danish style. Featuring a compressed, oval-shaped and flaring rim, the bowl's walls taper down to a raised heel and a long undercurve that flows into the stem. A semi-oval shank turns up to meet the cumberland-hued, half-saddle stem, which is accented with a pale band at the junction. Dressed in a rich auburn stain, the stummel boasts fine flame grain around the bowl, with a crown of birdseye at the rim and matching grain that runs along the underside of the shank. Thanks to its compact dimensions and light weight, this pipe is as portable and handy as it is handsome.
