About This Pipe

The late Jess Chonowitsch was a second-generation pipe maker, and a pupil of the legendary Sixten Ivarsson. After learning from the best of the best and spending decades honing his craft, Jess became highly influential in his own right, his work coveted by collectors and inspiring a new generation of carvers. When looking at this gorgeous Billiard, it's easy to see why his handiwork is so highly regarded.

This Billiard boasts a tall, gently tapered bowl with a muscular heel; said bowl pairs quite proportionally with the brawny shank that emerges with arrow-straight posture from the low-set transition. A swiftly tapered stem of vulcanite ties the composition together, keeping things sleek in profile and allowing the focus to remain on the bowl up front and the gorgeous grain that decorates it. Ripples of ring grain cascade along the walls of said bowl, interspersed with fine flame grain for a visually and texturally rich finish. More handsome grain can be observed along the brawny shank, and both shank and bowl are dressed in a deep chestnut stain for an elegant and inviting appearance. A fine display of craftsmanship in both form and finish, and carved by one of the greatest pipe makers of our time, this Billiard is sure to make an esteemed addition to any pipe collection.
