About This Pipe
Beginning his journey in the pipe industry at a young age, Poul Winsløw started his career in 1967 as an apprentice for Preben Holm, one of the biggest movers of the Danish Fancy style. After Holm’s workshop closed, Winsløw opened his own at his home in Hvidovre, a southern suburb in Copenhagen, where he still crafts pipes today. Pulling inspiration from Holm’s Fancy style and implementing his own spin on Danish classicism, Winsløw is known for large robust pieces that simultaneously maintain soft curves and gentle lines.
Winsløw’s portfolio comprises two distinct series: the Crown line and his eponymous Poul Winsløw pipes. The Crown line provides high-quality pipes for everyday enjoyment, encompassing a variety of shapes and finishes and graded in the following ascending order: Viking, 200, 300, and Collector. Poul Winsløw pipes represent the Danish carver’s most prestigious work. They’re graded on a descending alphabetical scale from E to A, with his superlative pieces stamped “P.C.” for Private Collection.
