About This Pipe
This is just one of those pipes that makes me go 'huh?'
First off, the acorn shape here is classic Danish by design, but made by Dunhill. The patent numbers and additional stamping chime with the year 1950 (since patent numbers were dropped in '55), yet the group size (4) is stamped on the shank - something that started in 1951. From what I can guess, This pipe was made during a fine line between 1950 and 1951. This might make sense if Dunhill was selling pieces to retailers with group sizes stamped on the shanks in 1951; so they may have needed to do some stamping after completion or early batches. As far as patents go; this is a riddle of a good pipe.
