Dunhill Bruyere Bent Dublin with Silver (4) (2021) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

The Calabash isn't a shape typically associated with English pipe making, making this piece one of Dunhill's less often seen designs. With a highly distinguished S-curve, the entire piece gradually flares from bit to rim, terminating in a sleek Dublin bowl, forgoing the traditional, mushroom-cap Calabash aesthetic. The only interruption to the smooth-lined profile is the briar accent ring at the shank, finished in a smooth, walnut stain to contrast the stummel's dark, Bruyere hue, leading the eye toward the broad band of sterling silver.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
