Not long after moving from Italy to the United States at sixteen, Thomas Cristiano found work at the S.M. Frank factory in New York — known for producing Kaywoodie pipes. He began his pipe-making journey as a floor boy, selecting, organizing, and stocking briar and pipes. After spending a decade at the factory, Cristiano progressed to making and selling his own pipes under two different marques: T. Cristiano and Calabresi. Cristiano's overall portfolio runs the gamut from reserved, classic pipes to extravagant freehands. Calabresi pipes come in sandblasted, spot carved, smooth, and rusticated finishes and are typically stained with classic, more reserved colors.
