About This Pipe

One of the biggest names in Italian pipe making today, Castello's roots can be traced back to 1947, when Carlo Scotti founded the workshop and began producing handmade briar pipes. In a time of quantity over quality in Italy's pipe-making history, Scotti flipped the script by prioritizing craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and cutting-edge engineering. Dating back to some time in the 1950s, this Opera is a thrilling find for fans of the Castello brand.

This pipe's vintage is indicated by its mammoth ivory logo, which was only used in Castello's early days. This pipe also features a mammoth accent, which stands out handsomely against the stummel's rich, smooth finish. In terms of shaping, it's also quite an interesting find, as its bowl is oblong in shape like the archetypal form, but the chamber within is not. Even so, it can still be conveniently slipped in a pocket and taken on the go for a quick, satisfying smoke.
