About This Pipe

Il Ceppo was founded in 1978 by architect Giorgio Imperatori in Pesaro, Italy — a veritable hotbed of Italian pipe making. This bent Egg from Il Ceppo is deeply rusticated for a craggy feel that still manages to comfort the hand thanks to a smooth, reddish-brown stain. The bowl is generous in the hand and topped with a smooth, flat rim of birdseye, then succeeded with a short but heavily upturned shank. The stem, a replacement, is black vulcanite that tapers to a very wide bit and curves heartily to give this pipe a profile like an oblique letter "S" on the underside.
