About This Pipe
The Rossi tradition began with tobacco wholesaler Ferdinando Rossi and 30 craftsmen in the Varese province of northern Italy in 1886. Pipemaking in 19th-century Italy was a menial, time-consuming process that Rossi believed could improve, especially after visiting one of his briar pipe suppliers in France. Rossi and his team quickly turned Italian pipemaking on its head with dedication and incredibly modern production techniques as the factory grew to become the largest in the world between World War I and World War II. Rossi peaked at a daily production rate of 50,000 pipes in 1936. Though Rossi closed its doors in 1985, the brand lives on today as Rossi by Savinelli thanks to Ferdinando Rossi's friendship with Achille Savinelli.
Rossi's designs affirm the brand's long-held commitment to providing well-made briar pipes at reasonable prices. Among Rossi's modern offerings, the Sera and Mezzanotte (translated to "evening" and "midnight," respectively) series feature thick bowls and sandblasted finishes that provide a touch as unique as the craftsmanship that has made Rossi a top name in pipes for so long.
