Ser Jacopo's story began in 1982 when Giancarlo Guidi and Bruto Sordini left Mastro de Paja to start their own firm. In true Italian style, the company's pipes offer finely crafted variations on traditional British and French shapes. With their Mastro Geppetto pipes (named for the man who carved Pinocchio), Ser Jacopo provides the same curious approach, neoclassical shapes, and varied finishes of its other pipes at a lower price point. This Mastro Geppetto Canadian is rusticated and stained dark red to provide a fascinating color palette, and though sporting the lengthy shank that is typical of this shape, manages to weigh in at barely over a single ounce. The bowl is classically shaped with arrow-straight walls and a smooth rim, and the tapered stem is translucent, amber-colored acrylic.
