About This Pipe
Il Ceppo was founded in 1978 by architect Giorgio Imperatori in Pesaro, Italy — a veritable hotbed of Italian pipe making. This bent Dublin from their workshop is a remarkable rendition of the classic shape, fronted by a traditionally conical bowl that, in this case, takes on an ovoid orientation when observed from above. The wide, ovoid rim is coated with tight birdseye while the walls are home to striking flame grain, all of it finished smoothly and stained a bright auburn hue. The shank tapers lightly inward as it reaches up to meet the rounded diamond-shaped silver accent. A saddle stem of black acrylic finishes the piece, bending generously on its way back to the bit for easier clenching in the jaw.
