The rim is quite crisply defined, while the rest of the bowl is beautifully curved for a pleasing presence in the palm. A short cylinder of briar emerges from the transition out back, quickly yielding to two bumpy knuckles of bamboo that comprise most of the shank. An elegantly bent vulcanite stem completes the composition, its expansion ring mimicking the flaring knuckles of bamboo and continuing its visual rhythm. Showcasing handsome birdseye and tight tendrils of flame grain read skillfully by Satou, the stummel wears a smooth, lustrous finish over a warm chestnut stain.
