About This Pipe

Kiko made pipes in Tanganyika, a former British territory in East Africa that declared its independence in the early 1960s and is today known as Tanzania. Meerschaum was mined in the area by the Tanganyika Meerschaum Corporation and used in Kiko's pipes, including this Cherrywood. The bowl, angled to sit easily without assistance, is lined with meerschaum, rusticated to achieve a natural touch and stained very dark. There's little to be said about the shank, because there isn't one: though this pipe is more than six inches long, the lightly bent vulcanite stem stretches all the way from the bit to the leaning aft of the bowl.
