About This Pipe
Rad Davis studied the art of pipe making under American artisan Mark Tinsky. Davis initially sought out Tinsky for his pipe repair services, but after bonding over their mutual love for both fly fishing and smoking pipes, they formed a fast friendship that eventually turned into a mentorship. Davis is now an accomplished artisan in his own right, and his portfolio encompasses a wide variety of styles, from Anglo-French classics to more gestural, Danish-style pieces. This bent Apple is certainly a gestural piece, and replete with the soft, organic curves common within the Danish carving style. The bowl is affably plump, and paired to a thick, gracefully bent shank-and-stem arrangement. The stummel wears a craggy, earthy sandblast, revealing tight waves of ring grain for a stimulating texture and a mesmerizing appearance.
