About This Pipe
Brigham's "16" shape defines two profiles, both a straight Bulldog and a straight Rhodesian depending on the series to which it belongs. As a Bulldog, the shape's classic profile is rendered with clean-lined crispness, especially through the diamond-shaped shank, the ridges lining the flanks continuing down the fore and joining together at the heel. As a Rhodesian, the diamond paneling through the shank becomes a rounded taper continuing through the stem and placing more emphasis on the bowl. In both iterations, the bowl grows to a high-set waist marked by a pair of beadlines, with these additionally marking a slow taper to the rim. A gentle forward cant adds a touch of understated dynamism to the profile and keeps things interesting, while the wide transition leaves plenty of room to drape a digit.
Brigham's System series comprises two different finishes, both of which are united by their deceptive simplicity and rugged wealth of texture. The first of these finishes is a craggy rustication, and the other is a crisp sandblast that showcases the briar's natural grain. Both are unified by jet-black stems and a simple style, presenting the pipes they dress in classic palettes that suit their hard-working, pastoral appeal.
-John McElhenyLike all of Brigham's lineup, this pipe also comes complete with the marque's signature Rock Maple Insert. This special insert comprises a rock maple dowel drilled with a 3.5mm airway and pressure-fitted in the tenon via a special metal cap, helping to remove moisture and unpleasant flavors that develop during the smoking process. No chemicals or adhesives are used to manufacture Brigham's Rock Maple Inserts, ensuring a flavor-neutral profile that doesn't interfere with the tobacco. Moreover, because of the drilling, the Rock Maple Insert is able to pass a pipe cleaner, even while the pipe is still assembled.
Note: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.
