About This Pipe
Zounds! Deja vu, plus something new! Bill Taylor was legendary for creating crazy-gnarly, deep sandblasts, and with this Old Church apple, Jimmy shows the same acumen, plus adds hints that dual-stain process that is starting to take off like an F-22 Raptor. The shape honors the British classicism of its roots, while still showing enough subtle individuality that it is clear that this wasn't spit out by a machine. And the grain? The sandblast on this squat apple is phenomenal; revealing tight, well defined ring and fan grain on the bowl walls anchored by large ripples on the base of the bowl.
