About This Pipe
Founded by Carlo Scotti in 1947, Castello is recognized by some enthusiasts for being one of the first Italian brands to separate from the conventional English and French shaping standards. All of their pipes are individually shaped by a small team of artisans who focus on quality in both form and function. The prioritization of quality not only shifted Castello to international recognition, but also changed the reputation of Italian pipes altogether.
This Billiard from Castello is a refined example of the Italian marque's shaping style, all within a lightweight format. The design features a pert, upright bowl at the fore of the composition, with straight walls rising from the firm heel toward the flat rim. Out back, a slender shank carries a gradual taper through the push-style stem — the arrangement married by an acrylic mount. Said mount is crafted of swirling grey and black acrylic, adding a pop of color to the otherwise earthy, rugged color palette. Castello's famed craggy Sea Rock rustication dresses the stummel, its rugged texture displayed beneath a rich chestnut stain, with the rim stained in a darker hue for a fumed look.
