About This Pipe
Italian artisan Claudio Cavicchi boasts over 50 years of pipe-making experience and possesses an uncanny talent for bringing out the very best from a block of briar. His portfolio is full of evocative interpretations of classic shapes, and he is known by many artisans to have some of the best grain in the world, with even his non-graded pipes rivaling the top-tier pieces of other workshops.
This Cherrywood is a prime example of Cavicchi's work, presenting with a signature look that rests the visual weight of the shape solidly at the bowl. The broad base supports thick walls that rise with a subtle slant toward the chamfered rim, the entire build taking on a forward cant that affords this pipe a dynamic posture. The transition is low-set and angular, and leads to a subtly upturned shank joined by a demurely curved, tapered stem. Dressed in Cavicchi's signature Brown Smooth finish, the stummel showcases a wealth of handsome grain, with tight tendrils of flame grain engulfing the bowl and eddies of birdseye swirling around the rim.
