About This Pipe
At the turn of the 20th century, a new mode of travel began to take shape — not the plane, the train, or the automobile, but the Zeppelin: the rigid airship. Though its golden age was brief, quickly eclipsed by advances in aviation that proved safer and more cost-effective, the Zeppelin nonetheless represented, for a moment in history, an exciting leap forward and a vision of travel for a new, industrious age. In tribute to this pioneering aircraft, Dunhill has released a special limited-edition collection of pipes commemorating the 125th anniversary of the maiden flight of Zeppelin LZ 1, the first successful rigid airship.
For this release, Dunhill produced a line of its Quaint bent Billiard — a Pear-like shape defined by a pointed heel and a gentle upward taper, the bowl's form echoing the sharp angles and elegant curves of a Zeppelin. Each pipe in the series is accented with silver and accompanied by a leather-bound, book-style display case, along with a sterling silver tamper fashioned in the likeness of a Zeppelin. Serialized out of 16, this particular example is finished in the marque's striking Tanshell sandblast.
