About This Pipe

Celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, Dunhill commemorates this defining moment in American history with the release of its limited edition U.S. Declaration of Independence series. Fittingly, a robust Group 5 "04" Bulldog has been selected for the occasion, distinguished by a sterling silver accent engraved with "1776," the year in which the Declaration was adopted by the Continental Congress. Presented in a leather-bound book, the series is accompanied by a bronze tamper inspired by the Statue of Liberty, each plated in 18ct rose gold as a nod to the statue's original copper hue. This particular example is dressed in Dunhill's iconic Bruyere finish.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
